GlobalSIP 2016 comes this year to Washington, DC, on December 7-9, 2016. A flagship conference of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, GlobalSIP is structured around coherent symposia that explore new and emerging developments in the field, while maintaining a format that encourages accessibility to interested researchers and fosters interaction and cross-pollination of ideas. The venue and dates this year are aligned with the IEEE GLOBECOM conference, allowing researchers to attend both conferences in succession with a single trip.
The conference structure each day features a morning plenary talk, followed by symposium-specific keynote talks delivered by recognized experts in the respective fields, to lead into regular presentations and posters within each symposium. Each symposium, in particular, features invited talks to highlight recent advances in a manner accessible to a broader scientific audience. Special highlights this year include an industrial symposium and a government panel, drawing from the extensive local expertise of the Washington area. Coffee and meal breaks are common, and the overall structure allows attendees to weave in and out of symposia according to their interests.
The meeting location, in Crystal City, Virginia, allows convenient access to Washington’s numerous cultural attractions and fine restaurants from a safe and pedestrian-friendly milieu. The venue is readily accessible through three airports and Amtrak, and is a five-minute walk from the Crystal City metro station for attendees who wish to find accommodations outside the conference hotel.
